Project Accountant

Location: City of Garden Grove, CA/New York City, NY

​

​

DESCRIPTION:

  • Perform all accounting functions, including but not limited to: preparing month-end packages, consolidated journal entries and monthly financial reporting

  • Accounting for complex real estate transactions including acquisition, construction, sales, financing, and asset management

  • Responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger, review payments to contractors and vendors

  • Maintain inter-company loan schedule and prepare reconciliations

  • Working with project managers on job cost coding and tracking against project budgets, prepare financial analysis

  • Prepare overall annual companywide budgets and related variance analysis

  • Prepare and maintain Cash Flow Reports, including detailed 5-year forecasting with YTD line item budget revisions, identify and explain budget vs. actual variances

  • Assist with treasury management, loan draw and tracking, cash forecasts and compliance reporting

  • Manage and maintain accounting software system; troubleshoot with software vendor as needed

  • Other ad hoc projects and other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • 3-5 years of real estate accounting experience

  • Experience of both public and private accounting experience preferred

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management and organization skills

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, and work independently in an organized manner with strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Authorized working status in the U.S. is required

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with real estate accounting software (i.e. Jonas or Sage 300), as well as system implementation experience

  • QuickBooks experience is a plus

  • Advanced skills in Excel; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
